Visit from Mamita Helena, our foundress

Our founder Helena van Engelen, who we affectionately call Mamita Helena, was able to visit us after two long years due to the Covid-19 pandemic. She traveled from the Netherlands, her native country, to Urubamba, Cusco, Peru to see her children and the more than 200 students of the school.

Mamita Helena arrived on Monday, March 28, a day in which the whole school, girls, boys, teachers, parents and collaborators, received her with much love, which was expressed in letters, drawings, poems and dances performed by the children.

The affection and gratitude of our students towards Mamita Helena is so pure that spontaneously many children began to create drawings and small gifts for her. One of them even prepared a poem in Quechua, the native language of his community Huylloc (high Andean community of Ollantaytambo).

The whole family of the Rainbow Children Foundation is happy for the visit of our founder, who has recharged hope, love and commitment to continue working for the vulnerable children of Urubamba.
